A week after hosting the GMA Dove Awards for the fourth consecutive year, Tauren Wells headlined a night of worship at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium. And he brought a few friends along. Serving as the third stop on the 20-city “Air1 Worship Now Tour,” the Music City concert saw Wells take the stage alongside worship collective Gateway Worship, rising singer-songwriter Seph Schlueter and newcomers Sarai Rivera and Roosevelt Stewart.
The Ryman began its storied history as a church, and on Oct. 14, 2026, it truly lived up to its nickname as the “Mother Church.” Feeling less like a concert and more like a worship service, the “Air1 Worship Now Tour” stripped the evening of hierarchy — where the lesser-known names traditionally open the night and the most seasoned performers appear last — in favor of a diverse, communal experience.
For starters, every single artist on the bill opened the show all together with an energetic version of a song none of them had a hand in crafting — Elevation Worship’s “Praise.” Their lively cover of the recognizable anthem, however, set the tone for an evening centered on collaboration, friendship and the song’s namesake — praise.
Texas-based Gateway Worship kicked off the first artist-specific set of the night, featuring the group’s Matthew Harris, his wife Jessie, and Maddison Serban backed by four gifted musicians, who served as the house band for every act. Gateway Worship’s four-song segment encompassed favorites like “Crowns Down” and “Who Else,” as well as a sacred rendition of “Known By You,” with Jessie behind the piano.
Emerging artist Roosevelt Stewart followed, serving up selections from his recently released debut, “Memory (Live),” including the moving title cut and his current radio single, “Redeemed.” He shared a story about the plane ride that inspired the song, “What A God,” before delivering the ballad, which he originally co-wrote and recorded with SEU Worship.
Schlueter took the stage next armed with a slew of original hits, including his smash debut, “Counting My Blessings,” during which he seamlessly interpolated Brandon Lake’s “Gratitude.” He also treated attendees to an unreleased original titled “Forever Amen.”
Following a child sponsorship presentation and a brief intermission, Wells helmed the back half of the gathering, opening his portion with a spirited version of “Let The Church Sing.” The majority of his setlist was handpicked from his latest album, “Breathe On It,” and his subsequent live project, “Here Comes The Church.” In between key tracks like “Breathe On It” and “Making Room,” he interjected familiar moments of praise, leading a rousing iteration of Elevation Worship and Chandler Moore’s “God I’m Just Grateful” and a poignant, piano-led moment of reverence on “I Surrender All.”
The pastor in him emerged often as he filled interludes with fiery nuggets of wisdom, reminding those present of truth. “God does not tolerate you, He treasures you,” Wells affirmed. “When the world rejects you, God chooses you.”
Midway through, he offered a simple explanation of the Gospel, giving concertgoers the same opportunity he presents each week as the co-founding pastor of the Church of Whitestone in Austin, Texas: the chance to have a personal relationship with Jesus.
Afterwards, Wells launched into passionate renderings of “Serve The Lord” and “Thank You For The Cross,” during which he introduced Sarai Rivera. Fresh off her inaugural Dove Award win, the bilingual songstress joined him on the second verse in Spanish. Wells then turned the stage fully over to the fresh talent for a vibrant, fiesta-worthy delivery of “Cada Mañana” before reappearing for their buzzworthy duet, “Suelto (I Give You My Dreams).”
The show ended on an upbeat note, as Wells welcomed all the artists back onstage for combustable versions of two of his No. 1 hits: “Famous For (I Believe)” and “Take It All Back.”
From the very first song, fans were on their feet, singing along to every word (even in the rare instances when the lyrics weren’t on the screen); and they stayed standing — hands held high — for nearly the entire show. While hits were abundant across the evening, the artists on this year’s “Worship Now” bill also intentionally worked in refrains from well-known worship anthems to keep concertgoers engaged at every point. The emerging acts were every bit as engaging as the more experienced veterans in the lineup. The capacity crowd fueled a palpable energy that, given the format, will likely be felt across each of the tour dates outside the historic Ryman Auditorium. Yet, the stained glass and rugged pews provided a welcome setting for the three-hour praise celebration.
The 2026 “Air1 Worship Now Tour” is scheduled to run coast-to-coast through the fall, concluding in Corona, California, Nov. 13.
