The songs your church has been singing along to for over three decades are about to fill a movie screen.
“House of Worship,” the collaborative album and film project pairing the writers who laid the foundation of modern worship with the leaders currently leading it, opens for one day only in more than 400 theaters nationwide Aug. 23.

Executive produced by Michael W. Smith and Darlene Zschech, the film and its companion 13-song album were recorded in-the-round, just south of Nashville, at World Wide Stages in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Alongside the performances, the artists sat for interviews, reminiscing on where these church anthems came from and what they have meant to the followers of Jesus who have carried them across generations and the world.
“What drew me to House of Worship was the opportunity to be a part of something that unites generations through songs that have shaped the Church,” Smith says. “These songs have truly been anthems of worship for believers around the world, decade after decade. And to sing them with so many leaders in different seasons of ministry, all joined in worship, was something I will never forget!”
The 13 live-recorded performances read like a hymn book of the modern church. Paul Baloche and Chris McClarney open the set with Baloche’s late 90’s hit, “Open The Eyes Of My Heart,” followed by Matt Redman and Lady A’s Hillary Scott teaming up on “The Heart Of Worship,” Christy Nockels and Mitch Wong on “Mighty To Save” and Kari Jobe with Brian and Jenn Johnson on “Breathe.” CeCe Winans joins Zschech for “Shout To The Lord” before Smith and Elevation Worship’s Chris Brown close the film with Smith’s emotional “Agnus Dei.”
“I know that this will be a great blessing to your community of faith as together we gather around the name of Jesus,” Zschech says. “Every song is a prayer rising from sons and daughters crying out to God together.”
World Vision is sponsoring the album/movie project, extending an enduring partnership with Christian music artists that stretches back more than 30 years.
