Alt-pop artist bodie isn’t traditionally known for original worship fare, so his latest single, “Go For Broke,” offers a surprising detour. The California native told fans the new song is the “closest thing to a ballad I’m gonna give you this year.” And he likely means it, given his history of full-throttle, introspective pop-rock. So, we’ll enjoy this fleeting moment while it lasts. Because, honestly, the song is really good.
Belying the single’s cover art — which features a nonplussed bodie hauling broken grocery bags and pouring out a half-gallon of milk in what appears to be a nondescript parking lot — the newcomer actually delivers a standout worship anthem that could easily be a part of the Sunday morning setlist at Oceans Church in Irvine, California, where he regularly leads worship. With vertical lyrics that pledge his whole life to Jesus, “Go For Broke” showcases a tender, earnest side of the rising singer-songwriter not often revealed.
“Me and my pals cried writing this song,” bodie candidly shared on his social platforms, referencing collaborators Bobby Strand, Nick Bays and Sajan Nauriyal. “What a song. What a team. Hope this song blesses y’all like it blessed us when writing it.”
Laying all of his cards on the table, bodie sings, “I’m going for broke. Face down on the floor. You can have all the glory, ’cause it’s already Yours.”
“Go For Broke” leads a three-track single that bundles a trio of fresh originals from the father of three. In the meantime, bodie continues to tease more new music to come.
bodie first garnered national attention as a contestant on Season 22 of “The Voice.” His debut Christian radio single, “Whisper And The Wind,” launched a new chapter of faith-focused music for the West Coast artist. He released his first full-length LP, “NO SKIPS,” in 2025.
This past spring, he toured with Colton Dixon. Following a summer of festival appearances, he’ll support CAIN on the group’s “Live and In Worship Tour” across select dates in November.
