Artist Info

Never particularly interested in leading the typical artist’s life, the unassuming worship leader from England, Matt Redman, is best known for penning many of the praise choruses churches sing every Sunday morning including “The Heart of Worship,” “Better is One Day,” “Blessed Be Your Name,” and “You Never Let Go” as well as his latest, "Mercy." The song centers on the greatness of God's mercy and that we would never "lose the wonder" of it all.

"The cross of Christ shall never lose its power, and never cease to be the most relevant and life-changing act mankind has ever seen," states Matt about "Mercy." "Let us never cease to be awed by the sheer scale of grace and love that we discover in that place."

Matt began leading worship at age 20 in England at St. Andrews Church, in Chorleywood before moving to help start up Soul Survivor Church in Watford, England. Over the course of his career of 17 years, Matt's songs have been covered by many of his songwriting peers including Rebecca St. James, David Crowder Band, Michael W. Smith and Tree 63. In 2008, Matt, his wife and five children moved to the United States and have been an integral part of the Passion Church plant in Atlanta, Georgia, along with fellow worship artists Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels and Passion founder Louis Giglio.

Matt's heart to reach the lost eventually returned him back to England in 2010. He moved to Brighton on the southern coast of Great Britain, to reach one of the largest "unchurched" cities in the United Kingdom. He continued to work with the Passion conferences around the world and released his eighth album, 10,000 Reasons, in July of 2011.

Songs from Matt Redman can also be found on the live recorded album Passion: White Flag, featuring fellow artists: Chris Tomlin, Kristian Stanfill, Christy Nockels, David Crowder Band and Charlie Hall. Matt also released Sing Like Never Before: The Essential Collection on November 20, 2012, which features 15 of Redman's most popular worship songs.

Matt Redman was recently honored at the 55th annual Grammy Awards taking home two awards- first, for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance for his song, “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord).” And second, for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song for “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)," which he shared with fellow songwriter Jonas Myrin.

Following the win, Matt shared his gratitude with his twitter followers saying: "We wrote this song for the glory of God, so He gets all the glory today too."

Matt Redman was also nominated for "Worship Song of the Year," at the 2014 K-LOVE fan awards, for his song, "Your Grace Finds Me" is off his live album of the same title (September 24, 2013). A song about the never ending, and always constant, grace of God, Matt shares, “It's a song that is attempting to just celebrate the grace of God, that we find in all the different scenarios in our life. His just, utterly, constant, helpful, present grace in our lives. He’s there in the light of the sunrise, or in a newborn cry. You see him on your wedding day, in the weeping by the graveside. It’s the same for the rich and the poor, it’s the same for the saint in the sinner. His grace finds us."

He continues, "I definitely known that to be true in my own life. I haven’t walked through the day when I haven’t known the grace of God. There’s times of battle, there’s times of hardship, there’s times of intense celebration, and there’s moments of joy. The grace is always there. So the song is trying to recognize that, and also celebrate that."
