Serving up a sacred moment of worship, Elevation Rhythm delivers “Father’s House.” Led by the collective’s newest vocalist, Violet Knull, the piano-laden selection offers a song of pure adoration that turns our attention toward Jesus. Penned by the group’s Josh Holiday, alongside respected worship writers Abbie Gamboa and Naomi Raine, “Father’s House” crescendoes into a genuine declaration of praise that invites listeners into the presence of God.
“‘Father’s House’ has become my personal prayer and anthem to our Heavenly Father,” says Knull, who led the ballad for the first time at Elevation Church’s annual youth camp. “This song is both a reminder and a declaration that He is the reward. More than anything else we could receive, just being in His presence and being called His daughter or son is the gift.”
The slow-burning original, permeated by descriptive lyricism and Knull’s airy vocal, was inspired by Psalm 27:4: “The one thing I ask of the Lord — the thing I seek most — is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in His Temple.”
During an interview at the Air1 Studios earlier this year, Knull revealed how she watched the song take on a life of its own as Elevation Rhythm previewed it in cities across the country prior to its release. “When we took it out on tour…on the ‘Goodbye Yesterday Tour,’ [people] were so excited to sing it. That was super encouraging to me that this generation loves a pure worship song,” she says. “And I think it was really telling that they aren’t just about hype; they don’t just want to have fun. This song kind of strips that away, and it’s like, I really am just here to worship. It’s been beautiful to give that to our students and to see them run with it. I’ve been honored to share it.”
“Father’s House” is one of nine tracks on Elevation Rhythm’s latest album, “Washed.” The record’s title cut marks the spirited outfit’s first No. 1. In support of the project, the group will launch the “Washed Tour” this September, where they’ll spend back-to-back days in select North American cities for a combination of concerts and community-building via local run clubs, Bible studies and other exclusive pop-up events. Additionally, this fall, Elevation Rhythm will join sister collective Elevation Worship and pastor Steven Furtick on the road for another round of “Elevation Nights.” They’ll also headline the recently announced “Campus Nights” tour, presented by Goodsource, for a run of shows in November.
