From the age of 14, Asbury was leading worship services at his church, fueling his passion for the Lord and worship music. In 2005, his talents would lead him to full-time ministry with the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, but Asbury’s own musical career would not truly begin until three years later. In 2008, he and Matt Gilman would release their collaborative album, “Holy,” and the following year, Asbury would release his solo debut album, “Let Me See Your Eyes”.

Asbury would not release another album for some time. He signed on with a label in 2015, relocating to Michigan the following year. In 2017, he would release the hit single, “Reckless Love,” with the song seeing much success, and even becoming the title track of his first solo album with Bethel. Taking a year off in 2019 to rest, he would return in 2020 with “To Love A Fool,” featuring songs such as “Dear God” and “The Father’s House”.

Working with his label, he would create memorable songs such as “Egypt” and “Reason To Praise” alongside voices such as Naomi Raine. Asbury was also the mind behind the title track of Bethel’s live album, “Homecoming” in 2021. Most recently, he has been featured on collaborative renditions of songs like “Together” with for KING & COUNTRY, and “You Will Be Found” alongside Natalie Grant.

Cory Asbury has brought us some of the most original and deeply meaningful songs in the past decade, and we are eager for more. Asbury explains the purpose behind some of his most moving songs.

“The Lord tells us to love one another as we love ourselves, and that concept actually doesn’t work very well for most of us because we don’t love ourselves very well… Correcting that perception actually allows us to love each other and to appreciate and serve one another in a completely different capacity because the truth is, if you don’t love yourself very well you’re definitely not going to love other people that well.”
