Carnes was playing music from an early age, and would be leading worship services after a few years before making a career out of his musical talents. In his early music career, Carnes performed with bands such as “Hit the Ground Running” and “Crimson Soul” before becoming a core member of “Gateway Worship”, a collective associated with Gateway Church. During this time, Carnes would meet his wife, fellow worship singer, Kari Jobe. The two partnered to write a few songs for Jobe’s album, “Majestic” and would release an EP together before tying the knot in 2014.

In 2016, the couple gave birth to a son named Canyon and are currently living in Nashville, raising their son and worshiping together all the while. The following year, Carnes would partner with Capitol CMG to release singles such as “The Cross Has the Final Word,” “What Freedom Feels Like,” and more songs which would eventually be included in Carnes’ debut solo album, “The Darker the Night / The Brighter the Morning” in September of the same year. These songs would receive recognition from other well-known Christian artists, with some artists recording their own versions of certain songs.

Carnes’ next album, “Run to the Father,” would release in 2020, seeing him collaborate with other popular artists like Matt Maher, Kristian Stanfill, Cory Asbury, and more during the writing process. He and Jobe were also involved with the creation and performance of the iconic worship ballad, “The Blessing” that same year. After collaborating with other artists on songs like “Too Good to Not Believe” and “Firm Foundation (He Won’t),” Carnes has most recently released the live album, “God Is Good!” which features rocking songs like “Take You At Your Word” and “Good (Can’t Be Anything Else)”.

As Carnes continues to bring us fresh and memorable songs, we cannot wait to hear more! Regarding the message of his latest release, Carnes says:

“The Bible tells us that God is good and everything good comes from Him. I know I've seen His goodness in my life countless times. It's impossible for God to be anything but good. It's not just his character, it's the very essence and substance of who He is.”
