We dare you not to smile the first time you hear Pat Barrett’s new single, “I’ve Got A Fire.” From the first retro-tinged note, the infectious original will undoubtedly have you grinning from ear to ear. And once you see the music video — starring Barrett’s spunky 74-year-old dad — you won’t be able to wipe the jubilant expression from your face. Trust us.
Across the youthful pop track, Barrett recalls the formative season of his salvation. “I can still remember those early moments when I said ‘yes’ to Jesus. I was young then, but now, with the years behind me, that same fire still burns brighter,” Barrett offers. “‘I’ve Got A Fire’ captures that blaze in my soul, a joy that grows as we celebrate the eternal things no one can ever take away.”
Having co-penned some of worship music’s biggest hits, like Elevation Worship’s “Praise,” Chris Tomlin’s “Good Good Father” and his own “Build My Life,” Barrett is best known for consistent, mid-tempo, congregational-friendly anthems. While still worthy of an energetic Sunday morning service, “I’ve Got A Fire” shakes up his repertoire with one of his catchiest melodies to date and a chorus guaranteed to get stuck in your head for days.
The combustable selection — which he wrote with Ben Smith, Joel Houston and Jonathan Smith — titles his fourth studio album and serves as the centerpiece of his upcoming live effort, “Break Open,” slated for release Mar. 13, 2026. His upcoming live set memorializes the first time he performed many of the songs from “I’ve Got A Fire” in a concert setting and captures his energetic stage presence straight from his appearance at Big Church Festival in the U.K. last summer.
Fans can witness Barrett’s magnetic live persona as he supports Brandon Lake on the “King Of Hearts Tour,” which resumes its second leg Mar. 5 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
