Elevation Rhythm inadvertently dropped the perfect song for summer when they released “Sing of Your Love” earlier this year. Led by frequent collaborator Joe L Barnes, the vibrant anthem feels like it could be a bonus track on Coldplay’s “Moon Music,” with its colorful soundscape and big, bold, arena-ready refrain.
The dance-worthy original appears on Elevation RHYTHM’s latest album, “Victory Lap.” The group’s primary lyricist and producer Josh Holiday crafted the shimmering selection alongside Barnes, Steven Furtick and Mitch Wong.
“I think the picture I had in my mind while writing it was Calvary,” Holiday shares of his vision behind the fresh single. “It’s Jesus on the cross. I think the greatest display of love we’ll ever see is what He did for us on the cross.”
Channeling John 14:6, the pre-chorus proclaims: “You’re the way, you’re the truth. The life that I choose, and nothing’s gonna take you away. My light in the dark, the King of my heart. I just wanna sing of your love.”
The expansive “Sing of Your Love” serves as the follow-up to the youth-driven collective’s biggest song to date, “Goodbye Yesterday (feat. Gracie Binion).” Following a high-profile spring run supporting Forrest Frank’s completely sold-out “Child of God Tour: Part II,” Elevation RHYTHM will embark on their first-ever headlining outing, aptly titled the “Goodbye Yesterday Tour.” The 20-city trek will begin in late August and wrap at the end of September, stopping in several European markets before making its way back to America.
Elevation RHYTHM is a sister collective to Elevation Worship. Both are musical expressions of Elevation Church, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to Barnes and Binion, the innovative outfit’s new project, “Victory Lap,” also features cameos from Tiffany Hudson, Abbie Gamboa and more.
