Honest Offering (I Surrender All) Cain

"I’m living rich in the world but a spiritual beggar
And I been waitin’ to give
‘Til I can give You something better
But You just wanted my heart"

Many of us think that we need to bring God amazing, extravagant offerings to be worthy of his time. We assume that our humble praise and our simple showings will be looked down on by God instead of appreciated for what they are. In “ Honest Offering / I Surrender All,” CAIN shows us that our offerings might seem pitiful to us, but to God, as long as we are praising and honoring Him in any way we can. To God, the smallest offerings and the smallest praises can be the most valuable if they are given in humility and earnestness.

“Honest Offering / I Surrender All” begins with a gentle piano, as the vocals declare that though we might be living in a rich world, we have nothing if we have lost our souls. The song’s sound blends choir worship with rock and roll, adding their unique flair to display a style that is reminiscent of bands like Fleetwood Mac. Our praise does not need to be flashy in order to be meaningful. We do not always need pyrotechnics and light shows to bring glory to God. All we need to do is surrender to Him.

When it comes down to our personal walks with God, the most meaningful prayers and the most meaningful types of praise are the quiet, private ones. The moments that are just between us and God are the ones that matter the most to Him because they are genuine and honest. We do not need to compare ourselves to the offerings of others. Our praise is enough for God as long as it is genuine.

“You turned pennies in my hands
Into a heavenly treasure
‘Cause Your kingdom rules by a different measure”

“Honest Offering / I Surrender All” was released in February 2023. Logan Cain, one of the band’s three key members, describes the hidden truth of signing a record deal. “Signing a deal really meant gaining a business partner. For lack of a better analogy, the label is NASA, but I still have to provide the rocket. Signing really means the beginning of the work, not the finish line.”
