Attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas, David Crowder began leading worship and writing his own songs to provide an enjoyable service for students who didn’t typically attend church. Eventually, Crowder was joined by Jack Parker and Jason Solley on guitar, Jeremy Bush on drums, Mike Dodson on Bass, and Mike Hogan on the electric violin. This group would begin recording and releasing Crowder’s songs as the David Crowder Band, with their first album, “Can You Hear Us?” releasing in 2002.

In the coming years, the David Crowder Band earned a number of Dove awards with their releases like “Illuminate,” “Remedy,” and “Give Us Rest”. In 2012, the name behind the David Crowder Band would continue on his own, rebranding as “Crowder” to release 2014’s “Neon Steeple” album, featuring songs that blended folk and rock sounds like “Come As You Are” and “You Are”. This album would reach number nine on the Billboard Top 200, and net Crowder a Grammy nomination. Crowder had come back in a big way, and was releasing more ambitious music than ever.

Crowder’s next albums, “American Prodigal,” and “I Know A Ghost” would see Crowder shaking it up once again by experimenting with different styles, including hip-hop, electronic, and even a tinge of country. Crowder’s most recent release, “Milk & Honey,” saw Crowder partnering with Maverick City Music on a number of tracks, while Crowder’s “Good God Almighty” would reach the top of the Christian charts. Crowder has continually made us cheer along and praise like never before, and we are always eager to hear his latest releases.

Crowder is surely not done making music, and we cannot wait to play his future releases on repeat. The artist shares his appreciation for the community he experienced working alongside Maverick City Music on his latest album.

“It’s like harmony and unison are musical words and goodness gracious if we couldn’t somehow get more of that amongst us on the day to day. It’s amazing to make a musical recording of what that looks like, it sounds like, it feels like.”
