God’s Word is a source of comfort that leads us closer to Jesus. If you’re finding it difficult to sleep, you can always rest in Scripture. Take your time. Read through each verse slowly, focusing on the individual words. Meditate on these truths as they fill your mind. Reflect on what you learn about God and how that influences your life. Do this as often as you need to, and allow the peace of God to wash over you.
1. Finding Harmony with Others in Your Life
May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. – Romans 15:5 NLT
2. God Gives to Those Who Ask
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7 NLT
3. The Glory of the Lord Proclaimed
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. – Psalm 19:1-4 NLT
4. Praises from Heaven
And they were shouting with a great roar, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living beings. And they fell before the throne with their faces to the ground and worshiped God. They sang, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.” – Revelation 7:10-12 NLT
5. The Blessing of Righteousness
Unfailing love and faithfulness make atonement for sin. By fearing the LORD, people avoid evil. When people’s lives please the LORD, even their enemies will be at peace with them. Better to have a little, with godliness, than to be rich and dishonest. We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.” – Proverbs 16:6-9 NLT
6. Remember the Lord’s Faithfulness
But then I recall all You have done, O LORD; I remember Your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about Your mighty works. – Psalm 77:11-12 NLT
7. Praising God the Rock
“The LORD lives! Praise to my Rock! May God, the Rock of my salvation, be exalted!” – 2 Samuel 22:47 NLT
8. Resting in God’s Glory
Then God looked over all He made, and He saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day. So the creation of the heavens and earth and everything in them was completed. On the seventh day God finished His work of creation, so He rested from all His work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when He rested from all His work of creation. – Genesis 1:31-2:3 NLT
9. A Song of Deliverance
“The LORD is my strength and my song; He has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise Him—my father’s God, and I will exalt Him! The LORD is a warrior; Yahweh is His name!” – Exodus 15:2-3 NLT
10. God Our Rock and Protection
“The LORD is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Savior; my God is my Rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.” – Psalm 18:2 NLT
