LOCAL Closer Look: West Dundee Police Department – West Dundee/Chicago

Posted on Sunday, January 21, 2024 by Ron Turner

Ron Turner talks to Chief Anthony Gorski of the West Dundee Police Department about how law enforcement and active community involvement contribute to our safety and well-being… Gorski discusses the basic steps that citizens can take to help ensure their own safety as well as the community. Gorski explains that regardless of the size of the population, most police departments experience the same challenges. He explains one of the biggest issues in today’s society is the publics mistrust of law enforcement. Gorski explains this is mostly due to high profile cases that have swayed public opinion toward the men and women in blue. Gorski says “failing to train, is training to fail” emphasizing the importance of being prepared for emergency situations. He describes the importance of community involvement to help enhance public safety. “If you see something, say something” is Gorski’s message to the public as well as making sure you have a plan of action to help avoid the possibility of being a victim of a crime.
