Ron Turner speaks with Quilen Blackwell, President and Co-Founder of Southside Blooms in Englewood. Blackwell discusses the stigma that surrounds their neighborhood and how kids are influenced by the media and other stereotypes associated with the area. She talks about the transformation youth experience when they let go of the street life to learn skills that can support them for the rest of their lives. “Kids don’t want to live constantly looking over their shoulder,” Blackwell says, “they want something better for their future."
