Air1 New Song Feature: "A Fresh Hallelujah" The Heritage

Acknowledging that each new day merits “A Fresh Hallelujah,” The Heritage unveils their debut single, which immediately boasts an infectious melody and memorable lyrics. The burgeoning worship collective contends there’s only one response to God’s renewed faithfulness: our unending praise. Their first radio offering was penned by the group’s Christopher Belangia, Jacob Randall and Joshua Phillips.

The song’s powerful bridge declares: “I won’t rest on yesterday’s hallelujah. I’ll bring You a new one. I sing a fresh hallelujah to the God who never fails.”

Opening The Heritage’s inaugural nine-track live album — “Home,” released in March — the upbeat original leans into the truth found in the familiar words of Lamentations 3:22-23: “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Discovered by Chris Tomlin, The Heritage is rooted at Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville, South Carolina, where Phillips heads up the worship ministry. Through a connection only God could orchestrate, the renowned songwriter and his wife initially visited the Palmetto State in search of a new dog for their family, but ended up receiving an unsolicited tip from the dog trainer, who bragged nonstop about the worship band at his church.

“The first time I heard The Heritage, I was deeply moved. There was something so genuine and refreshing in their sound: a mix of honesty, passion and heart fully focused on worship,” Tomlin remarks. “These young worship leaders…carry something special, and I believe God is going to use their songs in a powerful way.”

“This all started with us writing worship songs for our local church. We simply wanted to create music that would impact the way people worship God,” the group collectively shares. “Never did we imagine that our paths would cross so unexpectedly with Chris Tomlin and his entire team, but God did far beyond what we could have ever imagined.”

The emerging outfit is slated to open for Tomlin on tour this fall.
