Crowder Helps Tired Listeners Come Home in His Latest Hit “In the House”

“If you got a little red in your eyes
You've come to the right place
People like you, people like me
This is where we all find grace"

Where do we go when we are so tired we can’t move? How do we find north when home is nothing more than an idea? Where do weary souls go to find rest? Crowder seeks to answer these questions for weary, searching souls and direct them home to God’s grace in “In The House”.

Since his debut as Crowder in 2012, David Crowder has made music that has been marked by an approachable, unique sound that blends grassroots, country soul with the reverberating elements of modern techno synthesizers. “In the House” is no exception. While the song starts with the driving of a steel guitar, it is quickly met with the enveloping sounds of a synth pad throughout the remainder of the anthem as Crowder’s homegrown vocals usher the listener into God’s embrace.

“I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’” - Psalm 122:1

Inspired by one of the first scriptures shared with him by his Sunday School teacher, Crowder explained via his Instagram that he had been wanting to write a song based on Psalm 122:1 for a long time. He goes on to explain that this song is meant to center the listener on the recurring grounding and hope that comes from entering the house of the Lord on a weekly basis through church attendance. It is this entrance into the Lord’s house that Crowder offers as the catalyst to finding the rest the weary listener is searching for. The song goes on to describe the jubilant response of “Hallelujah” and “amen” that inevitably occurs when someone is born again through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

“Bet you'll wanna sing Hallelujah, bet you'll say an amen. Oh, I can't help but celebrate being born again. There's somebody who loves you, waiting at the door. Oh, it's home sweet home here in the house of the Lord.”

“In The House” comes from Crowder’s latest album, “Milk & Honey”, which was released in June 2021. In spite of being written in the isolation of the COVID-19 lockdown, Crowder realized that the songs he was creating were laced with hopeful messages and designed to be sung in a group setting. Crowder shared the vision for the album in an interview with New Release Today as he said, “I had the idea of the milk and honey metaphor before we even started writing songs. It was great to have a future-oriented theme; we were looking forward to what's on the other side... I can't wait to get to be in a room with people to finally sing these new songs.”

About The Artist

David Crowder first stepped into the music industry when he realized that over half of the students at Baylor University, a Christian school that he attended in Waco, Texas, were not going to church. He began to actively recruit students for worship services and started writing songs to draw more young people in. He eventually started releasing the songs, leading to his debut album, 2002's Can You Hear Us? The album was released under the name the David Crowder Band, as Crowder was joined by guitarists Jack Parker and Jason Solley, drummer Jeremy Bush, bassist Mike Dodson, and electric violinist Mike Hogan. Their sophomore effort, Illuminate, appeared in the fall of 2003 and was followed a year later by The Lime CD, which comprised two earlier live releases (The Green CD and The Yellow CD) that had been given out to fans who had either pre-ordered prior albums or attended various CD release parties.
