Tight on the heels of buoyant single “Washed,” Elevation Rhythm has dropped “Thank God I’m Free.” The infectious original features lead vocals from rising artist Lizzie Morgan. Prior to releasing her label debut — live worship project “Not My Will” — Morgan served as a background vocalist for Lauren Daigle and Maverick City Music. She’s also an active part of Red Worship. Now, the strength and experience of her voice shines brightly on her new collaboration with Elevation RHYTHM.

Written by key group members Josh Holiday and Tiffany Hudson, award-winning songwriter Mitch Wong, and SEU Worship’s Sydney James, “Thank God I’m Free” is a declaration of gratitude for Jesus’ pure sacrifice and what His death on the cross ultimately means for you and me. A celebration of liberty, forgiveness and mercy, the original song is yet another anthemic addition to Elevation RHYTHM’s growing catalog.
The first verse encourages listeners to throw off the weight that hinders them and move like they’ve been set free, thanking God for all He’s done, as Morgan sings:
I’m shaking off the heaviness
I’m dancing out of my regrets
I’m throwing caution to the wind
I am not ashamed to praise like this
Some would say it’s foolishness
But I say it’s worth the risk
I can’t forget what Jesus did
I am not ashamed to praise like this
“I hope anyone who hears this song will be a walking billboard of God’s unending love for us,” shares ELEVATION RHYTHM’s Davide Mutendji. “The Bible tells us that for the joy set before Him, Jesus endured the cross and broke His body. Yes, there was pain, but there was also purpose. So my prayer is that, no matter what anyone is going through, as they play this song, they would sing, dance and believe that freedom has already been paid for. Because of Jesus, we get to say, ‘Thank God that I’m free.’”
The youth-oriented outfit recently wrapped the second leg of their first-ever headlining trek, the sold-out “Goodbye Yesterday Tour” with special guest Strings & Heart. Their next round of “Elevation Nights,” alongside sister collective Elevation Worship and pastor Steven Furtick, begins late February with eight dates extending into early March.
