Is Brandon Lake working on a country album? That seems to be the question of the hour as the six-time GRAMMY® winner continues to make inroads in the country genre. It appears the cat is out of the bag, however, as Lake recently posted some behind-the-scenes footage across his social platforms showing him writing songs with some of Nashville’s elite.
“God put a dream in my heart to start loving on and encouraging those leading in the country music space,” Lake shared on Instagram, “and shortly after, He just started flinging wide the doors.”

Lake went on to say that he and his team recently hosted a writing retreat that saw more than 25 country artists and songwriters collaborate with the South Carolina-bred singer and a circle of faith-based writers. Over the course of five days, Lake revealed the group was able to pen more than 43 songs. Chart-topping country artists like Thomas Rhett, Tyler Hubbard, Dan + Shay and Lainey Wilson were among the A-listers who attended the gathering.
Lake’s massive collaboration with Jelly Roll on “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” for which the duo just won a GRAMMY® — catapulted Lake into country circles unexpectedly over the course of the past year as the pair performed the smash single at the Grand Ole Opry, CMA Fest and Stagecoach. Additionally, “Hard Fought Hallelujah” garnered notable country radio airplay and even earned the two unlikely friends a CMA nomination for Musical Event of the Year.
The “Gratitude” singer followed up the buzzworthy hit with a collaborative version of “When A Cowboy Prays,” which features CMA and ACM Award winner Cody Johnson. Lake performed the song at a Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event at New York’s Madison Square Garden in mid-January after leading “cowboy church” for the riders. Whether or not the CoJo collaboration will make it onto Lake’s next project remains to be seen.

If Lake does indeed turn out a full-length country LP, he won’t be the first worship artist to make an entire record with country’s finest. Chris Tomlin braved that territory with 2020’s “Chris Tomlin & Friends,” and Michael W. Smith enlisted a crop of country music hitmakers, ranging from Carrie Underwood to Little Big Town, to join him for 2014’s “The Spirit Of Christmas.”
“I don’t know what this next chapter looks like, but I know it’s [going to] be special ’cause it was birthed from genuine love and friendship,” Lake continued in his social post. “Praying God continues to allow me to love this community that’s blessed me so much, and if He’s willing, allow me to contribute a [little] something of my own.”
As fans wait for more news on his next move, Lake is set to reprise his wildly popular “King Of Hearts Tour” — with support from Pat Barrett and Franni Cash — beginning Mar. 5, 2026, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
