Nothing Is Too Hard for God

Read the transcript from today's video devotional.

Not too long ago, I received news about a friend that received a diagnosis. I remember how, when I received this news, I was just gripped with fear. It was one of those days where I didn't want to get out of bed. I just felt very depressed and down. I remember honestly wondering, God, are You going to come through in this situation? I was really wondering if my friend would get out of the mess that he was in because it didn't look good at all.

Preaching to Ourselves

What do we do in those moments when we feel helpless? We get bad news, and honestly, we're gripped with fear. I'll tell you what I did. I preached to myself. I started to rehearse the truths of the Bible. I reminded myself first, I am more than a conqueror. I have a God that's in control. I have a God that is able. God, I trust in Your character. I reminded myself of Isaiah chapter 43, verse 2: "As you go through these deep waters, I will be with you." I was preaching to myself.

Our verse today is one of my favorite verses because it reminds us that nothing is too hard for God. This is what Jeremiah says towards the end of the verse: "Nothing is too hard for You."

Trusting When Circumstances Don't Match the Promise

Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet, and he's talking to the nation of Judah who just lost their land. That's important to understand, because God told them that they would possess the land. You could look at that and say, well, then God's a liar, because God told them they're going to possess the land, but they lost it. But then God tells Jeremiah to purchase the land as a sign of faith, and that eventually they're going to be back in that land. So, Jeremiah does purchase the land, and they were actually restored, and ended up possessing the land.

Here's the big takeaway. When we read this, there are a couple of questions that I asked myself. One is, will I choose to trust when I read something in the Bible, but my situation hasn't changed? Jeremiah is told to purchase the land, even though they just lost the land. There's going to be moments in our lives where we read the Bible and we wonder, Lord, this is what You said, but this is what I'm experiencing.

What Do You Need Today?

In those moments, let this verse from today be a reminder. "Nothing is too hard for You." Like nothing is too hard for God. If God's in it, He's going to finish what He's started. My question to us today is simple. What do you need today? Maybe you need joy. Maybe you need peace. Maybe you've run out of courage. Maybe you're feeling depressed and you're saying, Lord, I've been going through this for years and years, and I don't believe that You're going to heal me. Tell that to God. Tell Him what you need, because our text tells us nothing is too hard for God.

Here's what I know. God is always working behind the scenes, whether we see it or not. There's things that are in our control, but the rest we have to leave to God. Our job is to pray. Our job is to believe. Our job is to be a people of the Word. But the results, they don't belong to us. They belong to God. I want to remind you today, nothing is too hard for God.
