God's Precious Thoughts About You

There's so much that can be said about our Verse of the Day. They are so encouraging to read, because if it's indeed true that God has thoughts about us that are good, it is by itself mind boggling that that would be true. I don't think if you're a human being, I need to go very far into trying to convince you that this is true. I'll just take myself for example.

I know who I am in my own decisions and my own desires. I know who I am when left to my own devices. I know my brokenness. I know my flaws. I know my fears. I know all my apprehensions. I know every single one of my shortcomings very, very well. But to think that the God of the universe who created me would have thoughts for me that are good and beautiful is more than I can even handle.

It even makes me emotional thinking about it, because I know what it means to be rescued from death and moved into life because of God's mercy. To know that even though He has seen my story play out, even though He knows every mistake that I've made, it says in the Scripture that His thoughts for me are precious. That's more than my brain can even handle today.

When We Get Stuck in Negative Self-View

The reason I'm super excited about talking about this today is because I think, if I'm honest, many of us are in a place where we get stuck because our view of ourselves is so negative. The view of ourselves is such a broken mess because we understand our fallibility, our frailties and the things that we've done, the thoughts that we’ve had, and we think, there's no one that could ever forgive me. There's no one that could ever really, truly accept me if they knew who I was in the deepest parts of me.

Consider the truth that the God who created you and knows every thought, knows every broken place, still finds you precious. This is something that moves us to a place of repentance, saying, I don't want to live in this place of brokenness, continuing down paths of thinking and decisions that are against the way of God. I actually want to turn to the Father and allow Him to pick me up, because if He would see me as precious, even though I know all my flaws, I want to lay my life down so that He can give me what He really wants for me.

Remember Who You Are in Him

Another thing that I think is really important for us, even as followers of the way of Jesus, is that we remember who we are in Him. I would just encourage you today to remind yourself of some of these precious thoughts He has for you.

Now you might be wondering, how can I know these thoughts? Where can I hear them? I'm trying to pray, but I don't hear the audible voice. One of the precious thoughts that God has for you is that you, in Christ, are a son or a daughter. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are bought at a price. You're not your own anymore. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You are an heir.

These are just the beginnings of all these precious thoughts He has for you. They're not just motivational pep talk. These are truths for those who are in Christ Jesus. Remember today, no matter what you're doing, how precious the thoughts are that He has for you.
