Today's Verse of the Day is simple but powerful. I want you to really listen to it and let the Lord minister to you through it.
1 Corinthians chapter 16, verse 14 says: "And do everything with love."
The first thing I see when I look at our Scripture is the word do. When we do something, there's action tied to it. Doing is an expression of what's going on in here. Whatever you think about, you act on. Now—what do we do? Everything. Nothing is excluded from everything. Do everything with love.
God Is Love
The world around us is trying to tell us that love looks like this or it looks like that. But in 1 John chapter 4, the Bible says that God is love. This is a really important detail to focus in on. If the world is trying to say that love is this or love is that, but we follow Jesus—we have to go with what the Bible says. God is love. You can look in 1 Corinthians chapter 13, known as the "love chapter." There you'll see how God defines love. It's patient, it's kind, it doesn't envy, it doesn't boast, it isn't proud or rude, it doesn't look out for itself, and it doesn't keep a record of wrong. The list goes on and on. If we're honest, we see the world's definition not lining up with what Scripture says.
A Simple Challenge
It's a simple word today, but I would challenge you to ask the Lord: does my understanding of love line up with what You say it is? Does it look like Jesus? The second part of that would be—am I doing something with it? Am I giving it away in a way that points people to Jesus? Not taking the attention to myself, but allowing people to see Jesus working through me—and to know that they are worth something to Him.
