Jeanice Lee talks to Fire Chief, Matthew Vinci, of Vashon Island Fire & Rescue. VIFR started as a volunteer fire dept in the 1940s. The dept has progressed over the years with a combination of full time staff augmented by volunteer EMTs, Firefighters and the local support group for big scale incidents. Chief Vinci shares about the role and training of firefighters/EMTs. He talks about the importance of having a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguishers in your home.
