LOCAL Closer Look: Ride to Walk Horse Therapy for People with Disabilities Sacramento CA

Posted on Sunday, February 4, 2024 by Kindra Ponzio

Kindra ponzio talks with Dr Kristine Corn, Founder, Ride to Walk. Corn shares her heart for starting this program years ago with one horse. She felt there were not any programs to help people/kids get out of their wheelchairs to help them build muscle. Corn talks about how it helps the kids build their core, back and neck muscles. She says they have side walkers that walk along side to help the kids stay on the horse. Many of them get strong enough to ride on their own. Corn also rides behind some of them to help hold them up. She says she sees lots of smiles when they are riding, giving them a sense of freedom and accomplishment. She now has 12 horses and boards up to 40 on her property.
