Sarah Shaver spoke with Tony and Sandy Wilson, NAMI of Camden County board members and volunteer program instructors. Mr. Wilson explains NAMI’s mission to persons suffering with mental illness and their families with free programs and education. He shares the couple’s personal journey with NAMI and Mrs. Wilson addressed negative stigma, how communities and churches can reach out, how we can support families and caregivers. Mr. Wilson notes NAMI’s numerous classes and support groups are free and many can be accessed over the web. Mrs. Wilson also explains how mental illness isn’t a “casserole illness.” (namicamdennj.org 856-878-2757 namicamdencounty@gmail.com)
