Kindra Ponzio talks with Janice Davis, Volunteer Program Coordinator, Blessings in a Backpack.
Davis shares the story of how she and her husband were shocked to find out that kids in school are going hungry over the weekend. Davis looked for an organization to provide food for kids, and found Blessings in a Backpack. She said the food gets placed in their backpacks on Friday so they have food on the weekend. She also tells of how the kids are excited to take food home because it makes them feel like they are contributing o the household. Davis said they started with 30 kids, putting bags together in their Living room, to over 600 bags now.
