Some of your favorite Air1 artists have joined forces for Sons Of Sunday — the supergroup we didn’t know we needed…until now. Despite their obvious friendship and previous collaborative work, nobody could have anticipated that Steven Furtick, Brandon Lake, Chandler Moore, Chris Brown, Leeland Mooring and Pat Barrett would come together for a side project poised to be one of the biggest albums of the year. When the next-level collective recently dropped their first single, “God Did!” surprised fans with its fresh sound and an undeniable message, crafted by six of the top songwriters in Christian music today.

The group’s initial radio offering testifies to God as the ultimate rescuer. Affirming He is perfectly ordering our steps and actively orchestrating our lives, “God Did!” helps us better understand our Creator’s intentional timing. He may not always work on our timeline, but He’s never late. “If you made it through and it makes no sense, that’s how you know it was Him,” Furtick shares of the selection’s overarching theme, quoting a key line from the song.
Sons of Sunday doesn’t have a frontman. All six members share vocals. On “God Did!” Lake and Furtick primarily helm lead — a rare treat for fans, who are used to Furtick’s lyrical touch, but less familiar with the pastor and visionary’s singing voice. Moore and Brown also briefly lend their voices to the gratitude-laced track, but it’s the stacked gang vocals that add a moody, Gospel-tinged tone and solidify a brotherhood that eschews ego and competition.
Since unveiling “God Did!” Sons of Sunday has delivered additional singles, culminating in their 12-track, self-titled debut full of brazen, left-of-center originals all co-penned by the tight-knit circle of unparalleled talent.
For context, Furtick is the senior pastor at Charlotte, N.C.’s Elevation Church and a key lyricist and visionary for Elevation Worship. Brown is also a highly instrumental member of Elevation Worship. As a primary vocalist, he leads songwriting efforts and creative endeavors for the award-winning group. Lake is a five-time GRAMMY® Award winner, who continues to dominate the charts and blaze a trail across genres. Moore, also a five-time GRAMMY® winner, is a former member of Maverick City Music, as well as a solo artist. Meanwhile, Barrett — who simultaneously stewards a solo career — is responsible for writing countless global anthems, including Chris Tomlin’s “Good, Good Father.” Mooring, while the youngest of the bunch, has long been respected in the Christian songwriting community for his wise-beyond-his-years lyrical talent and his pure-hearted worship.
