Do you have an area in your life where you need God to be mighty? Today we're going to read out of Psalm chapter 93, and we're going to read verse 4, and it says, But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore. The Lord above is mightier than these.
Verse 4 is comparing the might of God, the power of God to, let's just say, a tsunami. Whether you've seen it on the news or by chance experienced one, we can see how powerful a tsunami is and the damage that it does. This verse is saying it can't even measure. It can't compare to the power of God.
Finding Perspective in God's Creation
I know all of us have different areas that we need God to be mighty in. I know for me, sometimes I just take a walk outside and I look at the trees, I look at the clouds. We live near some mountains, I look at the mountains and it's always a reminder to me how amazing and how big God actually is.
I heard a pastor say one time, oftentimes we will tell God about how big our problems are, when we should really be telling our problems about how big God is. And for me, going outside and taking a walk and just slowing down for a moment, that helps me. It helps me to zoom out for a second and get into a place of like, man, God, if You created this, if You were able to do that and the entire planet is covered in those things, and not only that, but the entire solar system, You created all of that too. How small is my problem to You?
It's a thought that is easier said than done. It's one that takes practice. It's one that requires prayer. And sometimes I'll just say this too. God has blessed me with some great friends that helped me to zoom out as well, and they helped me to focus back in on the might of God.
God's Mighty Power in Your Situation
I don't know what you're going through. Maybe you need God to be mighty when it comes to your health. Maybe it's a financial thing. Maybe it's a relationship that you need some healing in. Maybe it's a job that you're hoping He brings to you. Maybe it's some clarity. Whatever it is, this verse that we just read together affirms God really is that mighty. Even if we're in a season of waiting, that doesn't change how mighty He actually is.
So my encouragement for you today is take a walk outside, look up, look at the clouds, look at the stars, some trees. Maybe it's raining where you are. I don't know. Maybe the rain is enough for you to look at from your window. Either way, that's the might of God. That's the power of God.
How much greater is His might and His power than the situation you're going through? I hope that encourages you today.
