Do you ever have those days where you feel like you've just got nothing left to give? Maybe you just feel like you have no more energy. You've been pouring yourself out, serving others, meeting other people's needs, trying to be there for people, doing all that you can to get everything done. Or maybe you just feel like you have no more time to give for all the people in your life.
The reality is, we have limited resources, and we're going to hit these moments where we feel like, "I have nothing left to give."
If you're feeling that right now, I've got a really encouraging verse for you. It comes from the book of Ephesians, chapter 3 and verse 16. Paul says: "I pray that from His glorious unlimited resources, He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit."
God Has Unlimited Resources
For those of us who feel like we've got nothing left to give, I want to encourage you to receive this promise from God's Word—that our God has unlimited resources, and He's not holding them with clenched fists. He's offering it to us. He's inviting us to take our whole lives, every burden, every weariness, every brokenness to Him so that He can strengthen us in our inner being with the power of His Holy Spirit.
This is not some sort of spiritual pick-me-up just to get us through the end of the day. This is supernatural strength to help us thrive in life. As you think about His Spirit giving you strength, I want you to focus in on that word—unlimited—because it means today exactly what it meant in the original context. There's no end to it.
Unlimited Strength
Meaning that you can feel like you've got nothing left to give every single day. Guess what? You can go back to God and ask Him for strength. You can ask Him for strength at 8 a.m., and then ask Him again at 8:30 if you feel like you've run out. There's never going to be a point where God says, "I'm so tired of helping you."
There's never going to be a point where He says, "You know what? I think you've had enough of my unlimited resources." The beauty of it being unlimited is that He can give and give and give, and it doesn't deplete what He has to offer. When we feel those moments, don't hesitate. Run to God and say, "Lord, please give me strength by the power of Your Spirit."
What Does It Mean to Be Strengthened?
I'll be honest, that's one of those phrases that sounds encouraging to me. Then I think about it and I go, "What exactly does it mean that He's going to strengthen me in my inner being by His Spirit?" If we keep reading in the passage, the next couple of verses give us a little bit of insight as to what that means.
Ephesians chapter 3 and verses 17 through 19—Paul continues: "Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. May you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God."
The Secret
That's the secret. If we want to experience that inner strength, it starts with trusting God. When we put our trust in Him, He makes His home in our hearts. From that moment on, we experience His glorious, unlimited, perfect love for us. A love that comforts, a love that inspires, a love that motivates, a love that heals.
This is where our strength comes from. Knowing that the God of the universe loves us and is for us.
Turn to God
If you're feeling weary, if you're feeling empty, if you're feeling weak or drained, it's okay. Take a breath. Turn to God and ask Him to pour out those unlimited resources as you receive His Spirit and His powerful, powerful love.
