Have you ever told someone or thought to yourself, if God only knew, then He wouldn't have... Fill in the blank. What if I told you He already knew?
Our Verse of the Day today comes out of 2 Timothy chapter 1, verse 9. Here's what it says: "For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was His plan from before the beginning of time—to show us His grace through Christ Jesus."
God's Plan Before Time
God had a plan for us before we ever took a breath. In fact, He had a plan before time started.
This is how crazy this Scripture is. It feels like a sci-fi movie to me—time travel. Even before creating anything, God had a plan to deliver us all from the power of evil and ultimately from our decisions to sin and step away from God.
Jesus is and always will be the solution.
The Burning Bush
There's a Scripture I'm remembering now when God spoke to Moses, and Moses was a deliverer to the people of Israel. He was talking to a burning bush, if you can believe it. God was speaking to him. They were having a dialogue about what it was going to take to set the people free from slavery.
Moses says: "What do I tell the people when they ask me, 'Who sent you?' What am I supposed to say?"
God says: "Tell them 'I AM' has sent you."
The Meaning of I Am
That'll blow your mind—the idea that He's not saying, "I am God. I am this. I am that." He is big enough, bold enough, and has existed long enough before time to just say "I AM."
God has always been.
God Knew Your Failures Before Time
This makes me think in our present, here and now moment, how easy we can get caught up in our moments of failure and sin and think, if God only knew how deep into this pit I was, He wouldn't have saved me. He wouldn't have given me grace.
This Scripture actually says that before you knew the moment you would ever fall, God already had a solution in Jesus waiting for you.
He chose us as recipients of grace to show us how much He loves us.
When You're Struggling
Think about that. You might be in a moment right now that you regret. You might be setting up something, thinking, God, how am I supposed to get through this?
When you look at this, I pray you find encouragement and know that the solution has been there. It may not get you through this moment right now to where you feel amazing on the other end. But know this: God's planning.
If He saw the solution from the beginning of time, He knows how He's going to walk you through your difficult moments.
Trust God's Solution
Trust in the solution that has been here before your problem ever was. Trust that God isn't going to leave you high and dry.
He wants to show you grace and mercy. He wants you to experience the fullness of it.
Jesus Is Waiting
Take a minute and let your mind be blown. Jesus is waiting for you to run to Him, to choose Him in the middle of your struggles, because He was there, waiting from before time began.
