Feels Like a Blessing Benjamin William Hastings & JUDAH

"I was lost running from the man I’m meant to be
Wandered off and woke up in the belly of the beast
I cursed the rain but only now the flood has done its thing
It feels like a blessing falling on me"

Sometimes, the burdens and roadblocks that we face in our lives can be blessings in disguise. When God closes one door, another one is sure to open, but we often forget about His promises for our future when we are in these situations. In “Feels Like a Blessing,” Benjamin William Hastings and JUDAH. remind us that, though we might curse the rain, it can grow some amazing things in our lives that we never would have experienced otherwise.

“Feels Like a Blessing” begins with a nod to the story of Jonah, with Hastings declaring that he has run from the life God had for him, only to end up in the belly of a beast. The song’s lyrics declare that the difficulties and struggles that we go through can truly be blessings falling upon us in the long run. Hastings’ voice blends with JUDAH.’s nicely, working together to create a confident, joyous, worship-rock anthem that makes you want to stand up and clap along.

“I’ve been down but didn’t let the devil in my seat I’ve been out bleeding art from my anxiety But it feels like a blessing falling on me Oh now it feels like the blessings keep falling on me” - lyrics from "Feels Like A Blessing" by Benjamin William Hastings & JUDAH

We often want what is behind door number one, but we do not see the hidden costs associated with those desires. When God shuts a door, He is doing it because He loves us and wants the best for us. So do not be discouraged when trouble comes or when you are told to wait. The waiting will be worth it, and the trouble can turn into triumph with God behind the steering wheel of your life.

“They keep falling
They keep falling
And it feels like these blessings
Keep following me”

“Feels Like a Blessing” was released in July 2022 as a single ahead of its inclusion in Hastings’ upcoming, self-titled debut album. Hastings shares the heart behind the song, saying, “I don’t wanna only write songs for the cynical, I want to see the beauty in life again and I want songs that reflect that. Well, ‘feels like a blessing’ is one of those songs… a song that stands in the gap. A gap that I feel like I’ve lived in.”
