David Pierce

Chief Media Officer

K-LOVE and Air1's Chief Media Officer, David Pierce, got his first job in radio at seventeen. He didn't start working at a small station as you might think. Instead he landed a job at KILT, a top-rated Top 40 station in Houston, Texas. How did David manage to get such a great job at a young age? He called the program director and let him know he really wanted a job in radio. The program director hired him to do music research at first, and then gave him a job as an announcer, working with some of the top names in radio

In 1982, he was a top “rock-jock” for Eagle 97 in Dallas, Texas. And, although he had the top-rated show and attended all the parties, he wasn't happy.

“My life was in trouble,” David recalls. “I was brought up with a good background and values and I knew right from wrong. I knew just enough to know I was in trouble.”

He began searching for something more and eventually gave his life to Jesus.

David stayed in mainstream radio after accepting Christ, but it became clear that he had a desire to be involved in Christian radio. In 1985, he became the Program Director for KLTY, a Christian radio station in Dallas. Six years later, he moved to Santa Rosa, California and took a job with K-LOVE. With a heart for non-commercial radio, David believed he could use his talent more creatively at a listener-supported station and attributes his equipping as foresight from God.

“Now I see that God opened the door for me to get great experience,” David says. “I'm thankful for the mainstream experience, which taught me well. That experience has allowed me to impact Christian radio.”

In July 2021, David celebrated 30 years with K-LOVE. He and his wife, Libby, live in Middle Tennessee and have three adult children Michael, Matthew and Karin.
