The unique men’s ministry founded in 1990 by Coach Bill McCartney is experiencing a rebirth. Under the leadership of Ken Harrison, Promise Keepers will hold its first major nationwide event in years this week at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. A definite masculine site for guys-oriented worship and teaching.

The gathering is July 16th & 17th, and will also be simulcast to churches in America and worldwide in languages including Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi, and Russian.

“When we come together, as men – not as white men, black men, Latino men, Asian men…but as men, we can change America. We really can. And change the world as a result.” The passionate thoughts of one of the keynote speakers, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, a pastor, author, and movie producer, who is president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. “The timing of this moment to me is that it may very well be God-ordained. And I know that may be a stretch for some, but we’re living in such a precarious moment in American history.”

“Thousands of men from all across America, different ethnicities, different cultural, social, economic, political backgrounds, gathering around the centrality of Christ. Literally gathering to hear about Jesus, to receive the Gospel, to receive an infusion to be light in the midst of darkness.” And Rev. Rodriguez adds this could very well be a tipping point for American men, who he believes are under fire from culture. “There is an attempt to put a lid on the role of the father, the role of a man, to diminish that role. Men are looked at with a negative light in our current cultural landscape. Rodriguez and other PK supporters want men to see their role biblically and they believe Promise Keepers is an excellent way to begin learning about that.

When men of all races and walks of life come together to worship, “There is a benefit on steroids, no pun intended, oh, absolutely!”

After the Dallas-area event, men who want to become more involved with bible study and discipleship, will be referred to local churches across the country.

These printed words cannot adequately describe the enthusiasm Pastor Rodriguez has when he shares about PK and the need for men to man-up with Jesus. Listen to our podcast below for the complete interview.

A current theme of Promise Keepers is: Building on the Past to Redefine the Future.
