In an effort to serve hungry families and children around the world, Liquid Church, one of New Jersey’s fastest-growing Christian churches, has announced it will once again set out to match its’ previous record of one million holiday meals packed in a single weekend during the church’s annual Christmas Outreach. New this year, Liquid will partner with Rise Against Hunger’s local New Jersey office to host the event at 6 locations across the state and distribute the meals to hungry families around the world.

“Our signature Christmas Outreach is an incredible opportunity to show Christ’s love and compassion to the hungry in a practical way - by providing nutritionally fortified, healthy meals to families in need,” said Tim Lucas, founder and lead pastor of Liquid Church. “We want to change the world for the better - and we’re looking forward to coming together with the community to make a big impact. We’re blown away by the response we’ve received this year, as over 4,000 volunteers have signed up to serve with us this Christmas!”

On December 3rd & 4th, volunteers will gather at 6 locations across 5 counties in New Jersey, including the church’s newest location in Mercer County, to meet the goal of packing one million meals. Designed as a family event, children and parents will serve alongside each other at the Christmas Outreach, working in an “assembly line fashion” in order to pack thousands of meals in short order.

The church’s new outreach partner, Rise Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organization, is growing a global movement to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives and responding to global emergencies.

“For those facing hunger, a meal can not only provide adequate nutrition, but it also can support maternal health, academic performance and attendance for children, and poverty reduction,” said Nick DiMare, Market Development Manager at Rise Against Hunger. “The one million meals packaged by Liquid Church’s volunteers will, therefore, make an impact in the lives of thousands of people around the world and support their journeys out of hunger.”

As part of the community Christmas Outreach, volunteers will not only serve the hungry around the world, but the hurting and homeless at home, too. The Winter months are particularly difficult for the nearly 10,000 people experiencing homelessness in New Jersey. That’s why volunteers at the Christmas Outreach are also encouraged to bring new winter hats, gloves or scarfs to donate to City Relief, a mobile outreach serving those struggling with homelessness by providing homemade soup and bread, hygiene kits, Life Care Visits, and prayer at locations across New York City and New Jersey.

“At Liquid, we have a heart to come alongside hurting families. When we see a need, we don’t sit on the sidelines. Instead, we get out of our seats and into the streets to care for those outside our church walls,” said Lucas. “We are so grateful for the thousands of volunteers joining us this December to feed the hungry around the world and serve our neighbors experiencing homelessness. We simply couldn’t reach such an audacious goal without the incredible support of a community that shares our vision!”
