Peter Kaye speaks with James Winans of the Bowery Mission about the changing landscape of homelessness across New York City. Winans reflects onto the pandemic and shares that the need for meals and shelter hasn’t gone back to normal but instead is the new normal. He addresses the recent challenge of migrant immigration as well as the continued mental health crisis. Winans emphasizes trust building and relationships to be keys to successful outcomes through the various programs and services offered at the Bowery Mission. He shares stories of impact and changed lives because of the generosity of New Yorkers partnering with the Bowery Mission.
