Otis Amey is a former record-setting S.F. 49ers wide receiver & punt returner who grew up in Union City, California. The father of three, and the youngest of four boys growing up, Otis played every sport you can imagine. He learned many life lessons on the fields and in the home that helped him later in life. His home life was a constant struggle due to living with an alcoholic father, but his athletic and scholastic life was thriving immensely!
Although Otis didn’t receive any big-time Division 1 scholarship offers after being hurt during his senior season in high school, he still found himself with an offer from Sacramento State University. He made the most out of what seemed to be an unfortunate situation by being named the team MVP 3 out of 4 seasons and breaking every receiving and returning record.
Otis found himself in training camp with the SF 49ers as a returner and wide receiver. With just a few days remaining in camp, he caught the first touchdown pass Alex Smith (#1 overall draft pick) ever threw. Excelling on special teams and playing well as wide receiver earned Otis a spot on the 53-man roster! His first game was at Candlestick on 9/11, where he scored a 75-yard touchdown the first time he ever stepped on the field. That highlight made the ESPN Top 10 Countdown.
Following his seven-year career in football, Otis spent four years in sales as he began to work on launching a motivational speaking business. After transitioning out of sales, he focused solely on positively impacting the youth. He has been traveling around the country delivering keynote speeches and facilitating workshops for tomorrow’s leaders, and plans on doing so for the rest of his life!
