Rafael Sierra spoke with Melinda Stephenson, Executive Director of Clothed By Faith about their mission to demonstrate God’s love by providing gently used clothing to families in need. Stephenson spoke about her background and opening her own branch of Clothed by Faith, serving the Houston Area. She spoke about serving individuals in need, from babies to adults. Stephenson said they usually give out a week’s worth of gently used clothing to individuals. Examples of the kinds of clothes they give out are pants, shirts, dresses, jackets, school uniforms, new undergarments and socks and sometimes new shoes. She mentioned working with the community and relying on volunteers to get the job done. Their new initiative, ‘School Closets,’ gives schools a chance to request clothing for their students. Stephenson said Clothed by Faith’s services are free to the community. They are a non-profit organization driven by donated clothing and financial donations. Stephenson said nothing is wasted – the clothes they do not use, they turn around and recycle them.
