Jason Gray 'Remind Me Who I Am'
Amidst our shortcomings, sometimes we lose sight of the plans God has for us. Jason Gray is a living example of this, as he has struggled with a chronic stutter throughout his life. His song “Remind Me Who I Am” shows that we are still a creation of God in spite of our weaknesses.
"It's a song about where we find our identity, why it matters, and how our lives might look if we understood ourselves as God's treasure," says Jason about “Remind Me Who I Am” on his website.
Much of Jason’s music was influenced by his upbringing, as he battled with a speech impediment while his parents went through a tough divorce. When his mother, also a musician, became a Christian shortly after the divorce, Jason gained the spiritual foundation that would give him inspiration behind the depth of his songs. This transformation combined with the sounds of his youth including Billy Joel, Duran Duran, Simon and Garfunkel, and U2 shape the musician that he is today. “I appreciate pop music, but I also want to marry it to a reflective hopefully interesting and compelling lyric.”
