Getting on a plane nowadays is so common we take it for granted, but believe it or not half of America is going to lose that privilege come January 2018. The U.S. Department Of Homeland Security will no longer be accepting state IDs from nearly half of US states and territories as acceptable forms of ID thanks to the REAL ID act passed in 2005. It calls for increased security for state IDs in order to be used as identification in regards to various federally run facilities and agencies, TSA being one of them. If your state is not compliant, you will be required to use another form of acceptable ID such as a passport or passport card. CLICK HERE to find out if your state ID will work!
