I agree Gunnar, I can't picture any kind of guy
sitting in his big chair with his two knitting sticks and his eyes crossed, HA!
But you have admit it's a good cause.
Wish you could teach me how to knit a rope!

I just learned out to knit last summer and am so excited to try knitting a few of these! I haven't done hats yet, so it'll be great motivation to learn. Smile

What they need to do is post a simple knitted hat pattern (or a copupls so they aren't ALL the same) that is in the size for an infant. btw if you are trying to knit a hat adverage circumferance of a newborn's head is 13.9" but they obviously look alot smaller :/ I am having to figure out a pattern by translating a winter hat pattern.....hmmm

I went to ravelry.com and found a number of newborn hat patterns for free. In the end though, I'm doing a flat knitted one and going on size recommendations for new born, just a simple k2p2, then a stockinette stitch before decreasing and making the seam. Super basic, but this is my first hat. They have more complex ones there for more advanced knitters too.

I learned how to knit, I've been using a loom and its soooo much easier than the needles.
Guys can totally knit! Its a man's job to defend the weak. Think of the needles as swords and the hats as justice. Just because you are knitting doesn't make you girly or whatever. You are providing warmth for babies and children....isn't that kind of your job too?
Be a man and buy some yarn ;)

I live by the power of positive thinking and crochet VERY detailed (anything you could want) hats that were seen on the Today Show and the Ellen show last week. I also make jewelry that are called "Inspiration Angels" and "Gratitude Dudes" and they are little small necklaces/charms that anytime you hear it jingle or spin the wings, you take a second to think about what you DO have and to be thankful for it. I will make a hat and send several of my Inspiration angels to Afghanistan! I hope there is an address somewhere!! Smile Thanks for sharing, I want to continue to make others thankful and loving one another!! Smile

@L.O.C, yes I completely agree it's a good cause, and if they need any ropes I'll supply them haha. Guys are supposed to be providers, and if anyone needs it I'll provide the yarn and needles.

All joking aside, it is a great cause, I would knit a few, if I could make something that even resembles a cap, but I'll certainly pray for this whole thing.

I'm not saying knitting makes a guy girly, if a man is knitting to help children that don't have a single earthly possession, then that is a very manly goal to pursue. If he is knitting himself a scarf to wear in the middle of summer just because it's in style, I think he could find some better, more manly things to occupy himself with.
But it's all cool, my great grandmother knits, crochets and sews beautifully. I don't have the talent.

I don't understand why people are gay... God made you who you are(gender and all)... & not to try to act like you're a different sex....

What's the deadline for the hats?  My daughter and I both use the knifty knitter and can make 1 baby hat in less than 2 hrs...  Come on guys, Ian Johnson, the former BSU running back knitted hats for all his teammates. He gives from the heart and is extremely talented and is NOT gay!

I just learned to knit in Dec of 2011.  I'm so excited to knit and send my hats to little girls.  I have 2 girls 7 & 14 and the thought that another little girl across to world will wear a hat that I made brings tears to my eyes.  That she might feel a little special bacause I took the time to love her.  Thanks you for this opprotunity!
