Owl City on TV!

Before any haters pick on Adam Young for being pitchy, he was just having a bit harder time for this performance like all artists do sometimes, probably nervous cuz of the huge audience that was going to be seeing this performance.  I saw him in Denver and his vocals were near perfect.

Yeah I agree. And Robin yes his vocals are nearly perfect live. I watched a video of Fireflies live and it was incredible. I think his vocals were perfect then.
Owl City is awesome. End of story.

When he is up there singing Fireflies, he doesn't seem to be praising Jesus. He seems to be doing it all for the crowd. How is singing that song on TV going to get anyone saved? "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." Is he doing it for the glory of God, or to glorify himself?

u have a point but still that doesnt change the fact that he's awesome. but i do wish he would have more of God in his songs and mention him more in public.

If you watch a lot of the behind the scenes videos and stuff, you can tell Adam is a great guy, is really nice and somehow see christian in him. I believe with all my heart that he is a christian and you do have a good point Joe. It would be better if he sang more christian songs and why not have a few fun songs here and there? That would be more convenient for his career if he even plans to lead people to Christ.

Fun songs are just fine. I like the fun songs. Don't get me wrong, I love all the songs I've heard from him. But everyone seems to love how he's such a witness because his songs play on secular radio. He isn't witnessing if he isn't sharing the gospel. Maybe he is a great guy, but being a great guy doesn't necessarily share Jesus with people. I just wish he were more true to the Name he professes.

I know that we are all called to minister to a certain extent, but what makes a singing career different than any other career? Some artists feel singing is their ministry, and that's great! It would be counterproductive for them to not share the gospel in song. However, does the Bible forbid someone becoming a singer to entertain? I don't see anywhere it does. Now no one seems to say anything about other careers. For example, I am a public school history teacher and a Christian, and I feel God has called me to be a light in a dark place. I teach history not the Bible, although I can put in little plugs now and then. But would some say because I have this ability to teach, I should be teaching about God in a Christian school? That's not where I feel called to be. Does an artist have to paint pictures of Jesus and Christian scenes to be considered Christian? Does a Christian actor have to act only in Christian movies to be a Christian? Yes, it would be awesome for Adam to share the gospel with his platform; however, he is in no way required to do so. He, like others, is given the same commission--to tell others about Christ. But how do we know he's not? We only see the public side of his life. Wow, I think sometimes people are harder on people than one what God is.

Adam is a great guy he really is and I'm not trying to say anything offensive towards him It's just that I wish he would write more christian songs. I get your point about the whole God calling us to do what we need to do and I understand that. I mean I would love it if Taylor Swift wrote a few christian songs here and there but that's just not who she is. I can truly see Adam is a good christian man and whatever choice he makes I just want it to be a wise one. I don't want him becoming the world that's all. I mean, Carrie Underwood for example, will sing all these horrible songs and then turn right around and sing "How Great Thou Art"! I mean, why even bother singing that to people when you turn around later and just sing, SIN! I just don't want that to happen to him. To be encouraged by the world to become exactly what he is not what he is meant to be. It's just out of worry.

Nate very well said. its funny to hear people say "oh he should more christian songs" really people come on. God gave this man a gift. HE now has a bigger audience than most "christian " artist will ever have or see. Once people love his music, they dive deeper into who he is, and what he is about. From there God can use adams life to reach those far from God. Thats how he can proclaim christ. Just because its not in every verse of his songs doesnt not make him christian. It just doesnt make him a "christian artist" it makes him an artist who is christian. Ive known many christian artist who dont live the life of the way the things they sing. So may God bless Adam indeed for not being shy about his faith in the press,in any time he can share.Again its no different than any of our jobs that "are not christian jobs"
but we still have to create relationships with those around us and show them Gods love , in the way we act,respond, and love.

He doesn't sound very good live. Amazing what a sound mixing system can do for your voice......

you all have great points. but there could b a chance that u get pulled into the world. im not saying that will happen 2 adam, but it has happened 2 other christian artists who also sang in the cecular world. but nate u and brian also have a good point. i just hope he starts sharing more soon, and his strategy works.

i saw owlcity at creationfest 2011  before toby mac and they weren't very good im not the biggest fan but the people behind me were and they didn't like them but my fave song is galaxies
