In honor of Mother's Day, we asked some Air1 artists about their Mothers. This is what they had to say:
Blanca From Group 1 Crew
"The one thing I have learned from my mother is what true selflessness looks like. She always puts others before herself especially her family! Whenever I need a reminder of how I should be serving others, I look to her! Plus she's the best cook EVER so how can I not love her!? LOL"
Jeff Owen from Tenth Avenue North
"Sungcha is a first class women. I often think of my mom as a pillar of conservation Republican truth. She was the kind of mother that drove you absolutely insane while being the most endearing, caring, loving woman in your life. There was a lesson around every corner, but also a smile with every hug. When I was a child there was no doubt in my mind she loved me even though I never got what I wanted and I couldn't watch the Super Mario Brothers movie when it came out in '93 because she thought it was "too violent." Regardless, mom has a heart as big as a whale, and a love that burns fierce as a lioness. I think I turned out OK. I mean, I never caught on to the whole bed making thing, or picking up after myself, but both of those lessons were only secondary to seeking the Lord and striving to be my best in her eyes. Here's to you, Sungcha, mother of my heart. You're the best and I love you."
Alan Powell from Anthem Lights
"My Mom used to ALWAYS say to me, "If you're doing it...It's cool." That taught me the importance of living my life only concerned with what God thought of me and truly helped me not give in to peer pressue."
Hayden Lamb from Red
"I'm thankful that my Mother has loved me through all the things i put her through during my childhood! ha She has taught me a lot about grace and forgiveness for sure! I love my Mom with all my heart!"
Trent Reiff from Disciple
"My Mom has always encouraged me to follow my dream, that's my favorite thing about her. She has always supported me and taught me to trust God in everything I do. I couldn't ask for a better Mom."
Ryan Coon from Wavorly
"My favorite thing about my mom is that she is my best friend! We goof around everywhere we go and always have fun. She even tweets! Haha!"
Kyle Kupecky from Anthem Lights
"I've learned incredible things from my mom. She's taught me how to love, how to laugh, and even how to sing. But I think the most important thing she's shown me is how to remain faithful and hopeful during dire circumstances. When I was in 8th grade my mom underwent brain surgery. The recovery process was grueling and she spent many days in bed. But no matter how tired or how weak she might have felt, she displayed a cheerful attitude. She made time for my brothers and I and continued to encourage us and pour love on us. She was selfless and this spoke volumes to me. Recently she had to have surgery for a ruptured disc in her back, but during this time leading up to the procedure she was more concerned with my brother's lacrosse game and Anthem Light's upcoming concert than she was with herself. I pray I can display the hope and have faith that she has one day."
Jessy Ribordy from Falling Up
"I've learned gentleness and sensitivity from my mom. She always taught me to be aware of other's around me more than myself. She is just a very selfless person and was always reminding me of the same. To serve others."
Dave Vela from Abandon
"The best thing about my mom is that she is the most happy and unselfish person I know and has always been there for me. She raised me as a single parent and I have learned that when you put God and family first, everything turns out beautiful. Now my mom is a grandma and is loving it. I hope to be a selfless person like my mom and that has so much love for their children."
Geoff Hunker from Satellites and Sirens
"My Mom is the biggest support I have, she has always done everything she could to help me in anything I do. She believed in me throughout the years and taught me how important it is to trust God even in the difficulties. I would not be where I am with out her love and support! I hope and pray that I can be that someday to my own kids, plus she makes a mean quiche!!"
