Chris Tomlin Featured On CNN

More people have heard singer/songwriter Chris Tomlin's songs than Adele's, Katy Perry's, and Kelly Clarkson's combined. Chris Tomlin is undoubtedly one of the most successful songwriters of our generation, as well as the most humble. In a new interview, Chris talks with CNN's Tom Foreman about his thriving music career. “I strive for trying to write something that people can sing, that people want to sing, and that people need to sing,” Tomlin explained before a live show. The secret to Tomlin's success, is that the songs he writes are not about him.

“I was just writing songs for the church and from there they just started taking off,” explains Chris, who says his goal is to write songs that communicate what people would like to say to God.“I'm thinking as that comes out of my heart as a song of response, I'm trying to think, how can I form this so that everybody, people who are tone deaf, who can't clap on two and four, how can I form this song so they can sing it, so that it is singable?”

Despite his success, don't expect a crossover album from Tomlin who assures that money is not what motivates him to write and perform. “I feel like I have a responsibility,  that God has given me a gift to write songs for his church that people listen to and that people are coming to expect now,” he said. “When I make a record I feel that responsibility that worship leaders, churches are going to say, 'Hey, are these some new songs we can sing in our church?' And I don't take that lightly, and I don't go, ‘Oh let's go do something else fun.’”

Tomlin is currently on tour promoting his new album Burning Lights

Shawn McDonald Shares "Burning"

Singer/songwriter Shawn McDonald is gearing up for the release of his new album The Analog Sessions (March 26, 2013)- a collection of nine fan favorites re-recorded live, and also includes two new songs. “When you release a traditional greatest hits record these days, usually people just go to iTunes to download the new songs, so the idea was to re-record everything to give the songs a fresh and different approach,” McDonald shares.“I hope listeners hear the heart of these songs in this stripped down format. I think longtime fans will enjoy hearing a new feel for the songs they’ve fallen in love with over the years, and for newer fans, this project can also be an introduction of where we came from.”

One of Shawn's songs that may not make the record is a tune called, "Burning." Shawn recently shared with listeners a video of him performing the song live. "Burning is a song that I wrote a while back that we play live, and wanted to share it. I love this song but as I am writing for a new record I feel its one of the weaker songs and might not make a new project," he explains. "I will be putting more videos up of some of the older songs that are on this project along with 2 new ones that you haven't heard before. I am super excited about what's coming."

Plumb Shares Anxiety Struggle On New Song

After a brief hiatus, singer/songwriter Plumb is back with her new album Need You Now. On the album Plumb tells honest stories of struggle, loss, and restoration.

The album's title track "Need You Now (How Many Times)," is autobiographical and talks about her struggle with anxiety and panic attacks that she dealt with as a teenager and still experiences as an adult. In the midst of those panic attacks, she says she needs God more than ever.

"That particular song talks about needing Him in the moment, unlike ever before," says Plumb, "and then realizing that we don't have this punch card with God that says we can only need Him 20 times, or 50 times. There is no punch card and He actually does not grow tired of our need for Him." "Need You Now (How Many Times)," was also recently featured on ABC's Family's hit show Pretty Little Liars.
