Nominations for the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards were announced this week leaving many artists with lots to celebrate. Casting Crowns earned multiple nominations first for their song “Jesus Friend of Sinners,” which was nominated for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance. Their album Come To The Well was honored in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category. Casting Crowns lead singer Mark Hall was also recognized for writing, “Jesus Friend of Sinners,” in the catergory Best Contemporary Christian Music Song.
Rhett Walker earned his first nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song, for the Rhett Walker Band’s single, “When Mercy Found Me.” “I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news. I’m blown away! I’m here at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville for the GRAMMY nomination event with my wife and our six-week-old daughter and I could not be more overwhelmed. I’m just a kid from the South that writes songs about life. To be recognized in this way just blows my mind. It is such an honor,” Walker said. “This is for all the Rhett Necks!”
Matt Maher, Matt Redman, and Chris Tomlin, also received nominations in categories such as Best Contemporary Christian Music Song and Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance. Gospel artist LeCrae, recieved a nomination for his album Gravity. And Matthew West, Kari Jobe, and TobyMac, also received nominations, earning Mac his 8th honor as a solo artist.
The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on GRAMMY Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013.
